What is A Township Trustee?

Township government is often called the most “grassroots” level of government because it serves people directly at the local level.
In Indiana, Township Trustees are elected officials who serve four-year terms and are responsible for providing essential services to residents within their township.

Each township is supported by a three-member township board that helps oversee budgets, contracts, and financial decisions.

At its core, the township system exists to respond quickly and locally when people need help.

The primary duties of a township trustee in Indiana include:

  • Township Assistance
  • Fire Protection
  • Assessing
  • Fence Disputes
  • Financials
  • Cemetery Maintenance
  • Weed Control

  • Miscellaneous Duties

How You Can Support the Community

Community support helps the Center Township Trustee’s office assist neighbors facing difficult situations. Donations provide food, emergency assistance, and basic necessities for individuals and families working to get back on their feet.

Financial contributions are processed through our nonprofit partner so funds can be used where they are needed most throughout the community. Together, we can continue providing help and support when it’s needed most.
